The updated look will be unveiled in a launch on Tuesday, July 28 at the Colchester Scout and Guide Shop in Stanway, Colchester.
To mark the occasion and give local members the chance to view and purchase the new uniform, the shop will be open extended hours throughout the week.
Melvin Tarman of The Colchester Scout and Guide Shop said: “It needed to come up to date, they’re introducing a lot of new bits and pieces on there.
“There’s a lot of sensory bits and pieces on the new uniform.
“They’ve done a consultation with the young Brownies and Rainbows and Guides for their opinion, and this is what they’ve come up with.
“It is quite a major event.”
The new uniform, partnered with Wayne Hemingway, an esteemed British fashion designer and HemingwayDesign in 2024 to design the uniforms.
That year, Girlguiding approached more than 20,000 of its girls and volunteers for their thoughts and opinions to inform the direction of the uniform.
Mr Tarman’s wife, Roz, is the store manager, and they credit a team of 10 to 12 volunteers, all of which are scouters or guiders themselves, for keeping the shop running.
The shop is usually open only on a Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm but will extend its hours from 8am to 8pm on the launch day.
It will be open on 10am to 8pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday that week and 10am on Saturday, August 1.
Although further details of the design are under wraps until the official launch, excitement is building among members, leaders, and supporters who say the change marks a significant moment in the organisation’s history.
Organisers are expecting a busy day and encouraging families and those from the Girlguiding community to visit, try on the new uniforms, and take part in the celebration.
Mr Tarman said: “We’re asking anybody that wants to buy uniform or see the new uniform to come along.”
Girlguiding is an organisation dedicated to girls and young women.
The current uniform is worn by more than 370,000 girls and volunteers spanning across Girlguiding’s youth sections – Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, for girls aged 4-18 years.
