Oktoberfest is returning to Chelmsford this year, bringing traditional German food, drink and entertainment. Oktoberfest is a German festival held in Munich every year but has become increasingly popular in the UK.
Held over 16 – 18 days between late September and the first Sunday of October, Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volksfest. The festival is celebrated with wine, beer, a giant funfair and loads of entertainment.
The original Oktoberfest has been taking place since 1810 but today it is celebrated with replica events worldwide. One of those events is held in Chelmsford.

Oktoberfest Chelmsford is coming to Central Park on Saturday, October 1. Attendees can expect to find German food, drink and entertainment throughout the all-day celebration.
In terms of food, you can visit the door food court for some hot and cold traditional German food such as sausages and pretzels. There will also be, of course, plenty of beer to try out as well as a selection of other drinks.
There will also be plenty of entertainment similar to what you would find at the Bavarian festival. Chelmsford will welcome Oompah bands who will perform their own mixes of traditional German music across the day. More performers are still to be announced.
Tickets for Oktoberfest in Chelmsford are already on sale. There will be an afternoon and an evening session, with tickets starting from £15 for standing.
You can also book seated tickets and VIP tables which seat up to 10 people. Find out more and book here
