A hugely popular restaurant chain is set to open a brand new restaurant in Essex this year – creating 70 new jobs in the process.
Fridays – formally known as TGI Friday’s – is set to open its 87th UK restaurant in Chelmsford within the second quarter of 2022.
Fridays, part of newly-listed Hostmore plc, announced the news only days after the group revealed its 86th restaurant would be opening in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

The chain is known for its American-style dishes such as burgers, ribs, chicken dishes, nachos and its wide variety of cocktails.
The new restaurant will be located on Springfield Road, near the centre of the city. The chain said it will be a flagship restaurant for the group, seating more than 250 covers inside with an additional 26 covers available outside.
It is also expected to create around 70 new full time and part time jobs in the city.

It will be the third Fridays restaurant in Essex, following popular venues at Festival Leisure Park in Basildon, and in Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock. The chain originally began in New York, USA, in 1965.
Robert B. Cook, Fridays CEO, said: “There’s absolutely no denying the love for Fridays in Essex. Our existing sites in Basildon and Lakeside are always buzzing with fantastic people and we are beyond excited to be opening a flagship store in Chelmsford, the heart of the county, as a result.
“There’s nothing quite like that iconic Fridays service and spirit of generosity and we can’t wait to share that, and our new and best ever menu, with the people in this energetic city. See you soon Chelmsford!”
A spokesman for Hostmore plc, which owns the chain, said: “It’s an exciting time for the iconic chain following the roll out of its new and best ever menu in which it celebrates its heritage through quality, simplicity and relevancy.
“Dishes are freshly made to order with top-quality ingredients, and new and classic cocktails full of energy and theatre are all handcrafted by its expert bartenders.”
