Teenage girl approached by man who ‘tried to touch her’

A teenager has been approached by a man who made ‘inappropriate comments’ and ‘tried to touch her arm’, say police.

The 16-year-old girl was approached in Witham, where she had been walking along

It was around 11.25am on Wednesday (June 23) when a man approached her.

He made inappropriate comments to her and when he tried to touch her arm she ran away.

The man has been described as white, in his 60s, between 5ft 11in and 6ft tall, with a ‘salt and pepper’ beard and wearing a red waterproof coat and white trainers.

Essex Police say: “Our investigation is ongoing and officers have been carrying out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.

“We know this will be a concerning incident and we will have visible patrols in the area.
