Visiting the Sealife Adventure on Southend seafront is a must for many families not just in Essex, but beyond too. They regularly announce exciting new additions to their fleet of sea animals and this time, you can see a rare type of shark just in time for the school holidays.
Two adorable California Horn Sharks have been welcomed at the centre and it turns out they’re quite rare to see on British shores! Usually found exclusively along the California Coast, it is a species of bullhead shark and normally grow to around four foot long.
They get their name due to having large spines at the base of their dorsal fins. They are slow-moving, generally solitary predators and normally hunt at night inside small home ranges and retreat to a favoured shelter during the day.
