Popular Essex bar confirms that it will be shutting for good

A popular Essex bar has announced that it will be shutting for good.

REIDS Bar, located on Laindon Road in Billericay, Essex closed their doors back in March after the UK went into lockdown at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

The bar, which was known to be popular with former TOWIE cast members, was hopeful that they would finally be able to reopen safely in September this year.

However, in an official announcement this morning (August 18), the decision was taken not to reopen the bar in the future.

REIDS, which was formerly known as The Ivory Rooms, said that the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has been too much for them.

A spokesperson for the business said: “After careful consideration and deepest regret, we must announce that REIDS will not be reopening as previously planned.

“Unfortunately, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is something we cannot overcome going forward with our normal business concept.

“We would like to thank the Billericay community and beyond for all your custom and support over the last three decades.”

Since announcing the news on social media and their website, REIDS has been flooded with messages of support for the owners and staff.

One resident said: “Gutted for you. Been such a great place to go for a night out and my work for private parties there over the years! Good luck to you all for the future.”

Another regular customer added: “It will be missed by many people. So sad to see the virus doing so much damage.”
