Pedestrian rushed to hospital after hit-and-run crash with car

A man has been taken to hospital after a hit-and-run crash near Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Police were called to Southend Road in Great Wakering at around 5.55pm yesterday (Wednesday, August 12) following reports that a pedestrian and a silver Vauxhall Astra had been involved in a collision.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Officers have confirmed that the driver of the Vauxhall Astra failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

It comes less than a month after a motorcyclist died following a collision with a car on the same road.

Essex Police are asking anyone who saw what happened, has dashcam footage of the collision or the moments before or after it, to call police on 101 or report it online quoting incident 203 of August 12.
