Outdoors escape room game opening at popular Essex beauty spot

A brand new escape room game at a popular Essex sight-seeing spot is due to open this weekend.

As lockdown continues to ease, leisure facilities are finally reopening and many people are on the lookout for new, exciting days out with their family.

Coinciding with the easing of restrictions, a brand new escape room at Hadleigh Castle will be launched this Sunday (April 18).

Based on what Hadleigh Castle was used for in the Georgian era, the game is based in 1795 and centred around smuggling shipments of illegal cargo brought in at the estuary in Essex.

You have to dodge the Revenue Officers, who are using the towers of the ruined 13th century castle as a lookout for the smugglers.

You must warn your smuggling friends of the imminent danger of being found by the Revenue Officers. They need your help to locate parts of the castle tower’s broken beacon so it can be repaired and lit, warning the smugglers to halt their operation.

You need to repair the beacon on time or the smugglers will be met by the officer’s ambush.

However, Covid restrictions still apply and you can only play the game with members of your own household, according to the latest Government guidelines.

Adventure Out! Games, which have created the outdoor escape room, says that all their sites are “Covid-secure.”

If you think you will ace this game, bookings are now open, with the first day available over this weekend.
