Crashes, bad weather and holiday traffic is causing heavy congestion in Chelmsford this evening.
There have been a series of road traffic accidents and incidents on the A12 this afternoon, affecting bus services which have had to alter their usual route (Friday, June 4).
First Essex has been notifying its passengers about the ongoing diversions and service delays due to the crashes.
In a tweet, a spokesperson said: “We are currently experiencing heavy traffic delays throughout Chelmsford following RTCs on the A12. Traffic is being diverted up Three Mile Hill.”
The A12 itself is heavily congested, while major roads in the city, including the A1060 and A138, are also severely impacted.
Highways England has advised motorists to find alternative routes or allow extra time for their journeys tonight.
