Lidl’s new loyalty scheme to rival Tesco Clubcard and Nectar card

Lidl has launched a new loyalty scheme to rival Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury’s Nectar card.

The discount supermarket retailer has introduced a new rewards app for its Lidl Plus scheme designed at giving customers weekly money-saving coupons and deals.

With stores all around Essex, including a new branch in Southend set to open later this month, Lidl has quickly become a firm favourite with many Essex residents.

The company launched a test version of the app last month through which customers were given a voucher worth £5 to take off their first shop.

Regular customers using the scheme will also have access to other offers, scratchcards and more, KentLive reports.

The supermarket said its flagship promotion will be the app’s digital scratchcard which is available every time a user makes a purchase.

Discounts vary from 25p to £20 off their weekly shop.

Every week, customers will also get new single-use coupons to use on their next shop – with some discounts of up to 25 per cent on certain products.

Shoppers will also be able to build up coupons to spend on their next shop once they reach a certain target.

Other features include a £10 off coupon when you spend £200 during a month, subject to terms and conditions. As well as browsing leaflets and special buys prior to visiting the store.

Christian Härtnagel, chief executive at Lidl GB said: “Our customers know that we offer the best quality products at market leading prices.

“We’ve designed Lidl Plus so we can provide an even better, tailored, shopping experience for our customers, as well as to thank them for their loyalty.”

A Lidl spokesman added: “We are always looking at ways to drive innovation for our customers, and Lidl Plus is another way of doing this whilst continuing to offer the highest quality products at the lowest prices.”

How to get the Lidl Plus app

The app will include special offers on products and services from partners such as up to 40 per cent off Sky TV and Broadband and 40 per cent off cinema tickets.

Shoppers can also use the app to store all their digital receipts in one place, as well as browse weekly leaflets and seasonal magazines on the go.

Lidl Plus can be downloaded either by the App Store or Google Play.

To activate it, you’ll need to register your details, including your email address and phone number, online.

Once you’re in, you’ll be asked to select your local store.

All coupons are for one-use only and have an expiry date of two weeks from when you activate them.

Lidl Plus users must be over 18.
