We are interested to hear what the community thinks about issues affecting Essex and there is plenty going on in the news at the moment for you to comment on.

There are a few rules, such as no swearing (and no, adding a few asterisks is not going to help you get around it) and no personal attacks. Thanks to our 24 hour moderation system, admins are able to react and respond to any rule breakers quickly.

How do I get involved?

If you click on the icon in the top right hand corner of your screen you’ll be prompted to register through one simple step – either popping in your email address and creating a password or pressing the button to sign in with Facebook or Google.

It takes seconds.

Once you have registered you can have your say on news, sport and entertainment news every time you visit Essex Live. You can also comment across all Reach’s websites including the Mirror and MyLondon (if you want to).

If commenting is not available on an article it’s usually for legal reasons such as when criminal proceedings are active.

There are a few rules such as no swearing. We wouldn’t want our comments section to be overrun by trolls or spam after all.

But fair, balanced comments are welcome. Even if you disagree with an article, or comments posted about an article, say so.

You can ask questions, give a virtual ‘thumbs-up’ to comments you agree with, or simply just share your point of view.

By clicking on the ‘follow’ button, you’ll get an email to your account whenever anyone says something new.

What type of comments break the rules?

We won’t allow any comments using bad language or versions of. Adding a couple of asterisks or spaces between letters doesn’t mean it’s fine.

Disagreeing with other commentators is okay, but don’t insult them. Hate speech in any form breaks the rules too.

Our moderation system should pick up spam comments before they see the light of day, but any spamming or trolling is out.

Our reporters welcome constructive feedback on their work, but personal attacks or insults won’t be allowed.
