Everything that will have to close at Lakeside as Tier 3 begins

Lakeside Shopping Centre has announced an update on store operations following news that parts of Essex will be moved into Tier 3 tomorrow.

The shopping mall is based in Thurrock, one of the areas that will be going into the highest local tier restrictions, with some stores affected by the strictest rules for this Christmas period.

Tier 3 regulations will affect hospitality and leisure venues the most as it will affect how they operate and what they can serve. The hospitality and leisure sector has been severely affected throughout the pandemic.

What are the latest Lakeside rules?

Gearing up for the upcoming tier change this week, Lakeside released an online announcement about shopping changes abiding to the government guidelines.

The message noted on the website said: “Please note, following government guidelines as of Wednesday 16th December, the centre will remain open including the Grotto and Christmas Wonderland.

“Leisure venues will be closed until further notice (except Rock Up who can operate their climbing wall).

“Restaurants & Cafes will be open for take out only and food must not be consumed within the mall. Please find here a list of who is opening for take out.”

What stores are closed?

Leisure venues will be closed entirely which includes cinemas, indoor entertainments and play centres. Restaurants, bars and cafes can only operate on a takeaway basis, whilst its dine-in area will be shut.

The following places will be closed at Lakeside:

– Hollywood Bowl

– Puttshack

– Vue Cinema

– Partyman World of Play

The following places will be offering reduced services:
