‘Armed police’ rush to Essex industrial estate after ‘gun’ seen

A man has been arrested after armed police reportedly swarmed an industrial estate in Braintree, Essex.

Witnesses reported seeing armed officers at the Galleys Corner roundabout off the B1018 at around 3pm today (Saturday, November 7) and the road was reportedly blocked by police.

The entrances to McDonald’s and KFC restaurants were reportedly blocked off by officers.

Met Police have now confirmed that a man was arrested this afternoon following an incident in Enfield yesterday where another man was allegedly robbed.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Police were called at approximately 2.15pm on Friday, November 6, following reports of a man robbed in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield.

“The victim reported seeing a firearm during the incident.

“On Saturday, November 7, a man was arrested by officers from Essex Police following a vehicle stop in Braintree, Essex. He remains in custody.

“Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”
