7 major Hollywood actors you forgot starred on Friends

Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry will reunite to discuss Friends for the first time ever since it finished in 2005.

While their lives since the sitcom finished are well-documented, there were a host of Hollywood actors that also had cameos in the show.

Hosted by James Corden, and featuring appearances from celebrity guests like BTS, the HBO Max programme looks set to be emotional.

The main characters might be unforgettable, but do you remember these stars taking part in Friends?

Bruce Willis

The Die Hard star allegedly lost a bet with Matthew Perry, which meant he had to appear on the show.

Whether or not this is true, the actor played the stern father of Ross’ girlfriend, and later became Rachel Green’s lover.

More strangely, Die Hard is Chandler and Joey’s favourite film – making the Friends universe a slightly more complicated world.

Brad Pitt

A brooding Brad Pitt plays Ross’ high school best friend in “The One With The Rumour” – where it’s revealed the teens were part of an ‘I hate Rachel Green’ club.

The heartthrob joined the Friends cast for the Thanksgiving episode, which Jennifer Aniston recently described as a favourite.

The pair were famously married between 2000-2005.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon played Jill Green, Rachel’s younger sister, in the show.

She was only 23 when she joined the stars on set, and recalls being “really nervous”.

Witherspoon obviously made an impression, however, as The Legally Blonde star has since worked alongside Jennifer Aniston in the Apple TV drama The Morning Show.

Susan Sarandon

A guest in season seven, Susan Sarandon played Joey’s co-star in medical soap Days Of Our Lives.

Her character ‘donates a brain’ to the actor, and the pair share acting tips in a particularly meta episode.

Incidentally, her real daughter joins her in the episode, too, playing Jessica Lockhart.

Paul Rudd

Playing Phoebe Buffay’s love interest Mike Hannigan, Paul Rudd was a fan favourite in the later series of Friends.

He’s not set to appear in the reunion, however, and has since described his time on the show as unhappy.

Speaking to Variety, the Ant-Man star said he “felt like a prop” compared to the main cast.

Nonetheless, he also commented that “there’s a very interesting feeling to be a part of something that has that kind of profound impact on pop culture.”

Tom Selleck

Tom Selleck played Richard Burke, Monica’s doctor-turned-lover, for multiple seasons.

The storyline was a heartbreaking one – the pair were controversial and a surprising match, but eventually convinced the gang they were a perfect couple.

However, as Dr Burke was Monica’s dad’s best friend, he was considerably older than her, and eventually they split because he didn’t want children.

The star is a guest at the reunion, so hopefully Selleck and Cox will reminisce about their character’s alternative future together.

Julia Roberts

The movie star appeared in Friends as Chandler Bing’s classmate, and eventually ended up dating Matthew Perry in real life.

Showrunners at the time described the chemistry between the pair, who apparently flirted over fax.

While she only appeared in one episode in season two, the appearance was a coup for NBC, as she was already a household name.
